Systems Administrator – CAN

The System Administrator is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT/IS functions for a global mid-size software company. This includes directing all IT/IS operations to meet internal customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions. Provide ongoing IT/IS Plan for the company and the analysis of the IT/IS operations including LAN/WAN, communications, servers, etc.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide the planning, implementing, monitoring and supporting of:
    • Cisco Networking devices (routers, switches and Firewalls)
    • Microsoft Exchange
    • Hosts/Virtual Machines with VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V
    • VM Cluster and Microsoft Cluster
    • Backup Exec and Symantec End Point
    • Dell Appliances and HP ProLiant Servers
  • Provide training and support and solution consultation to users
  • Perform hardware/software requirements identification and evaluations; inventory tracking budget forecasts; vendor interaction; and equipment deployment optimization
  • Identification of new or optimized solutions, feasibility and cost benefits analysis of new systems, initial design/requirements identification, and integration into existing systems
  • Evaluating requirements; design, develop, test, implementation, optimization and support of database systems
  • Evaluating requirements, evaluating different vendor solutions and purchasing new equipment/software as required
  • Tracking new purchases and asset movements
  • Evaluate business needs, objectives, goals, products available and designating procedures to best meet those needs
  • Develop plans for implementation of new projects, coordinating process with project leader. Provide well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines, and accountability
  • Maintain awareness of changing IT trends and regulations which might affect the business and act on as required
  • Develop an annual budget, providing justification when needed. Review and compare actual results to planned budgetary performance, preparing reports reflecting those results
  • Provide technical support for internal clients when needed

  • Extensive experience in Local and Wide Area Networks, personal computers, software applications and Microsoft Server technologies including Windows 2008R2, Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, etc.
  • Knowledge/experience in the following technologies/products:
    • VMWare Virtualization Products
    • IP Networks, VPN, Firewalls, etc.
    • Microsoft Suite of Products (Server and Workstations)
    • Business Applications (CRM, Microsoft SharePoint, Lync etc.)
    • Windows server – Version 2008 R2 or higher.
    • Microsoft CRM – Version 2013
    • Citrix – Xenapp version 6.5
    • VMware ESXi – Version 5.0 or higher
    • Microsoft SQL Server – version 2008 R2 or Higher
    • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint 2003 or higher


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience in the computer science field
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
  • 7 + years’ experience within Information Technology
